After the previous tests (one of which made it into a full deviation) I decided to try out a full BSG scene with the Gallactica on the right descending down to a planet while the Vipers scout ahead after a battle in orbit. The atmosphere on this planet is causing the Viper engines all kinds of trouble!

Had a lot of fun with this one and there is one more shot from this scene that I really like and will upload in the next few days.

I decided to go with fire-looking afterburner type engines for this shot rather than the cool blue jets in the show as it gives it more atmoshpere and looks more dynamic. Let me know if I was right, or should I change that for the next shot !?!

Marvelous imagery. This would have been a great addition to the episoid. Though I suspect they did not want to take away from the breathtaking vision of the Glactica slamming into dense air, then jumping away to orbit. That scene has always puzzled me. Could a Battlestar "ground", or not? We know that all of the Colonial ships had artificially generated gravity fields inside their hulls. It would not be a great stretch to be able to use something like "spindizzys"*(1) to "float"a Battlestar down to a planetary dock. Remember the scene where Lara is in her doctor's office, and the large glass pane shows a Battlestar gliding past at about five thousand foot altitude over Caprica City.
